June 26, 2004 - Fredericksburg, VA - The Paragon Gymnastics team celebrated
the end of a successful competition season at Curtis Park on Saturday. Gymnasts
and their families gathered for a picnic, swimming, golf, and fun before the
awards ceremony. During the awards ceremony gymnasts were recognized for their
efforts during the season.
Highlights are as follows:
Level 10:
Paige Jacobson was recognized as the 14 year old Virginia State Floor Champion.
She also achieved a score of 9.0 or better on 2 occasions throughout the season.
Senior Diana Janda was recognized for achieving a score of 9.0 or better on
4 occasions throughout the season.
Level 8:
Kyra Trowbridge recognized as the 10 year old Virginia State Floor Champion
and for achieving a score of 9.0 or better 14 times and an all around score
of 36.00 or better 2 times.
Level 7:
Sarah French was recognized for her excellent season which was capped off by
earning the title of Virginia State Vault Champion and All-Around Champion in
the 11 year old age division. Her winning all around score of 37.925 was also
a gym record. Jessica Torrance was recognized as the Virginia State Floor Champion
in the 11 year old age division. Her winning floor score of 9.625 also set a
gym record.
Gymnasts recognized for achieving scores of 9.0 or better included (number
in parentheses indicates number of times score was achieved): Sarah French (16),
Jessica Torrance (16) and Kayla Onesko (4). Gymnasts recognized for achieving
all around scores of 36.00 or better included: Jessica Torrance (4) and Sarah
French (3).
Level 6:
Eleven year old Alexa Dyott was recognized for earning the title of Virginia
State Bar Champion for her age division. Megan Onesko was awarded Most Improved
Gymnast for Levels 6 and up. Jasmine Kline set a gym record on balance beam
of 9.475.
Gymnasts recognized for achieving scores of 9.0 or better included (number
in parentheses indicates number of times score was achieved): Kyonna Bevels
(11), Jasmine Kline (11), Destiny Layton (5), Candace Pleasant (5), Kelsey Galello
(4), Alexa Dyott (3), and Megan Onesko (1). Alexa Dyott and Destiny Layton also
achieved an all around score of 36.00 or better.
Level 5:
Gymnasts Amanda Butterfield and Haley Sanders were awarded Most Improved Gymnast
for Levels 4 & 5. Gym record holders were recognized as follows: Amanda
Butterfield with a 9.50 on vault; Shannon Minnich with a 9.55 on floor and a
37.55 all around.
Members of the 9.0 club at the Level 5 division included: Shannon Minnich (16),
Amanda Butterfield (14), Danielle Sponseller (9), Victoria Atkins (5), Emily
Michaelis (3), Nicki Thornton (3), Lora Homer (2), Breanna McClure (2), Hayley
Sanders (2), Molly O'Brien (1), and Maci Winebarger (1). Gymnasts recognized
for achieving all around scores of 36.00 or better included: Amanda Butterfield
(3), Shannon Minnich (2), and Danielle Sponseller (1).

Level 4:
Noel Shaeffer was recognized with the Gymnast of the Year award. Gym record
holders were recognized as follows: Amy Sproul with a 9.525 on vault; Michelle
Putze with a 9.60 on bars; Katy Garrity with a 9.625 on beam; and Charity Cacciatore
with a 37.675 all around.
Members of the 9.0 club included: Charity Cacciatore (30), Amy Sproul (23),
Michelle Putze (22), Katy Garrity (22), Jordan Steadman (17), Noel Shaeffer
(16), McKayla Martin (16), Chelsea Chewning (16), Hunter Ervin (9), Sally Stanton
(9), Heather Jackson (6), Lizzie LaRose (4), Miranda Ritchey (4), Jessica Trementozzi
(4), Blair Horan (3), Savannah Allen (3), Maddie Smith (2), Kylee Cochran (2),
and Megan Polanosky (2). Gymnasts recognized for achieving all around scores
of 36.00 or better included: Charity Cacciatore (9), Katy Garrity (5), Michelle
Putze (5), Amy Sproul (4), McKayla Martin (3), Jordan Steadman (3), Chelsea
Chewning (1), Hunter Ervin (1), and Noel Shaeffer (1).
